This project is a bit of a fast and dirty job, as I didn’t leave myself a lot of time to complete it. So, rather than using metal as was my original design, I’m going with wood. It’s easy to work with, it’s quick to prototype, and it’s strong.
The main frame will hold the weight of the fiberglass shell. The frame is bolted to the metal frame of the cart.
Some days later, I added plywood extensions in preparation for the molding process for the fiberglass shell. These are the locations where the shell will be bolted to the frame. In this rear view, note that I’ve framed the area for the rear door.
Everything is painted white as much as possible, in anticipation for the typical playa weather.
